Nurse – Labor & Delivery plays a critical role in ensuring safe and
compassionate maternal care, working closely with interdisciplinary
teams to support patients throughout the birthing process . Key
Responsibilities Assess patient’s physical, psychosocial, cultural,
and spiritual needs Develop & implement a patient-centered plan of
care Perform diagnostic & therapeutic interventions (IVs, wound
care, catheterization, medication administration, specimen
collection) Educate & support patients & families regarding labor,
delivery, and postpartum recovery Advocate & collaborate to uphold
patient health, safety, and rights Precept & mentor new staff or
nursing students as needed Maintain professional competency through
continuing education & quality improvement initiatives Minimum
Experience & Skills Minimum 1 year of experience preferred
Expertise in nursing skills specific to Labor & Delivery Float
Requirements May be required to float to any CommonSpirit location
within 60 miles Float assignments may include duties outside of
original job requirements per hospital policy Required Education &
Certifications Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred Active RN License
(State or Compact/NLC) – Required BLS (AHA) – Required Neonatal
Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification – Required Electronic
Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) or AWHONN Certification – Required
