Director of EducationPosition SummaryThe WCM NYP Simulation
Center is a partnership between NewYork Presbyterian Hospital and
the Weill Cornell Medicine Departments of Medicine, Emergency
Medicine, Pediatrics, and OB GYN. Weill Cornell Medical College is
one of the nation's top ranked medical schools and NewYork
Presbyterian Hospital is ranked among the top 5 hospitals in the
country by U.S. News and World Report.Under the guidance of the
Medical Director, the Director of Education works closely with the
Associate Medical Directors, Operations Manager, and the staff of
the WCM NYP Simulation Center to implement a wide range of
strategic initiatives at NewYork Presbyterian Hospital. The
Director is responsible for overseeing, developing, and directing
simulation-based educational programs, collaborating with subject
matter experts to create innovative and impactful medical
curricula. Additionally, the Director leads the coordination of
collaborative educational research efforts throughout the
institution.Instructional Responsibilities:
Design, develop, implement, and evaluate new courses and
educational initiatives in collaboration with multidisciplinary and
multiprofessional content experts.
Validate existing courses and initiatives to ensure educational
effectiveness and alignment with program objectives.
Develop strategies to enhance educational programs and services,
leveraging existing resources and acquiring additional tools to
integrate simulation-based education into the healthcare
curriculum.
Collect and analyze educational feedback to evaluate the impact on
the learning process.
Identify areas for improvement and innovation in course delivery
and simulation-based learning.
Teach clinical skills, critical thinking, and teamwork using
simulation-based education strategies.
Serve as a mentor and educator for clinicians, staff, and
management, demonstrating best practices in teaching and
professional behavior.
Promote excellence in teaching by modeling respectful behavior and
fostering a positive learning environment.
Stay current with industry trends through seminars, workshops, and
professional affiliations to support ongoing professional
growth.
Publish and present simulation activities at national and
international conferences.
Communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues, staff,
and students.
Foster a collaborative teaching environment by integrating diverse
departmental goals and teaching points.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Medical Director to develop and implement
policies, procedures, and standards that support the center's
mission and educational goals.
Ensure ongoing compliance with required certifications, licensures,
and accreditations; liaise with relevant agencies to maintain
accreditation.
Maintain proficiency in existing and emerging technologies,
including basic theory, design and implementation. Maintain data
confidentiality and security; prepare secured area for data storage
and retrieval.
Proficient in simulation services, technologies, and
applications.
Educational and Instructional Knowledge:
Strong understanding of adult education principles and methods.
Familiarity with educational theory and instructional
technology.
Research and Analytical Skills:
Knowledge of experimental design and statistical methods.
Exceptional analytical, interpretive, and problem-solving
abilities.
Familiar with computer hardware and software related to simulation
functions.
Proficient in PC and Mac-based software (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint).
Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
Strong organizational and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to interact effectively with learners, healthcare
professionals, and institutional personnel at all levels.
Capable of developing and delivering clear and engaging
presentations.
Demonstrates initiative, creativity, and professionalism in all
responsibilities.
Committed to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive
issues with discretion.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands Requires an ability to assist
in the move, assembly, and disassembly of various simulation
equipment and furniture.Salary Range
$90,000.00 - $120,000.00*As required under NYC Human Rights Law Int
1208-2018 - Salary range for this role when hired for NYC
